MOT at Parr Automotive

  • We are a Class 4 MOT testing station, able to test petrol and diesel vehicles.
  • We offer our MOT services to private owners and to the trade.
  • Brake and emission tests are included in the MOT but can be carried out separately if you have any concerns.
  • If your vehicle fails, you will receive a notification of failure listing every point. A free no obligation quotation will be given at this point if required.
  • Once your vehicle is 3 years old, it needs an MOT every year. You can renew your MOT within a month before it expires.

It is your responsibility as the vehicle owner to make sure the MOT is carried out when due. Buying a used car? You can check its MOT status and history on the gov.uk website with the registration number and the V5C document reference.

Checking your tread

  • 1.6mm is the legal minimum for car tyres in the UK, across the central three-quarters of the tread and around the complete circumference.
  • Think about replacing them at 2.0mm before they reach the legal minimum. In the wet, the tread grooves help clear water so your car can brake, steer and accelerate properly.

Absolutely Incredible Mechanic that I Highly Recommended! Not just saying it for the sake of it.

I genuinely have to say this company is incredible. I own a black Renault Twingo 2010, and ever since I bought it, it has never felt this nice to drive, until now. I recently moved from London to Market Harborough and decided to try this garage, and I am so glad I did.

My car now drives smoother than ever, the steering feels light and precise, the brakes work perfectly, and even the handbrake was fixed without me even asking for it. It wasn’t even mentioned on the MOT, but they went above and beyond to sort it anyway, I know because it felt loose before but not feels very nice.

What really amazed me is that they did all this for about half the price I used to pay at various mechanics in London, where, in hindsight, I realise I was definitely getting ripped off. After driving for over 10 years with no accidents and always looking after my car, it’s clear I’ve finally found an honest, skilled mechanic who genuinely cares about doing the job properly.

The whole experience is brilliant. The receptionist is extremely friendly and kind, and to top it off, they even have a lovely dog in the office, Hero, well did when I went there... which just makes the place feel even more welcoming.

I can honestly say this is the best mechanic I’ve ever been to, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. If you want your car looked after properly by good, honest people, this is the place to go.

Parr Automotive of Market Harborough, Leicestershire (formerly known as S R Parr Autocare) was established in April 2009 by Stephen Parr, or Sid, as he is known in the trade.

    Stephen Parr, or Sid as he is known in the trade, began life as an apprentice at Welford Garage at the age of 16.

    Main technician

    At just 21 Sid was already the main technician at Harborough Auto and Repair Centre, building up a loyal customer base.

  3. Nine years

    A partnership in town

    Two years later he began his partnership at Dominion Car Centre, Market Harborough, which was to continue for 9 years.

    S R Parr Autocare

    In 2009 Sid left Dominion to begin S R Parr Autocare, and hasn't looked back since.
